چکیده
The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) serendipitously detected H$_2$O $J_{Ka, Kc} = 10_{2,9} - 9_{3,6}$ emission at 321 GHz in NGC 1052. This is the first submillimeter maser detection a radio galaxy and most luminous 321-GHz known to date with isotropic luminosity of 1090 $L_{\odot}$. line profile consists broad velocity component FWHM $= 208 \pm 12$ km s$^{-1}$ straddling systemic narrow 44 3$ blueshifted by 160 s$^{-1}$. significantly different from 22-GHz $6_{1,6} 5_{2,3}$ which shows redshifted 193 spatially unresolved synthesized beam $0^{\prime \prime}.68 \times 0^{\prime \prime}.56$ coincides continuum core position within 12 pc. These results indicate amplification through high-temperature ($>1000$ K) dense ($n({\rm H}_2{\rm O}) > 10^4$ cm$^{-3}$) molecular gas front

O maser and a plasma obscuring torus in the radio galaxy NGC 1052
Key words Editorial notes – instruction for authors We present multi-frequency simultaneous VLBA observations at 15, 22 and 43 GHz towards the nucleus of the nearby radio galaxy NGC 1052. These three continuum images reveal a double-sided jet structure, whose relative intensity ratios imply that the jet axis is oriented close to the sky plane. The steeply rising spectra at 15–43 GHz at the inne...
متن کاملSubmillimeter Array Observations of 321 Ghz Water Maser Emission in Cepheus A
Using the Submillimeter Array (SMA) we have imaged for the first time the 321.226 GHz, 1029−936 ortho-H2O maser emission. This is also the first detection of this line in the Cepheus A high-mass star-forming region. The 22.235 GHz, 616 − 523 water masers were also observed with the Very Large Array 43 days following the SMA observations. Three of the nine detected submillimeter maser spots are ...
متن کاملEmission from the Prototypical LINER Galaxy NGC 1052
We examine the 0.1 to 10.0 keV X-ray spectrum of the bright nuclear LINER galaxy NGC 1052, one of two elliptical galaxies known to contain a luminous H2O maser. The observed 2.0 − 10.0 keV spectrum is unusually flat (photon index Γ ∼ 0.2) and best described as intrinsically power-law shaped nuclear flux that is either (1) attenuated by a complex absorber with ∼ 70% of the nuclear flux absorbed ...
